a sensical approach to nonsense

I never saw a purple cow.
I never hope to see one.
But I can tell you anyhow
I'd rather see than be one!

a purple cow is quite a sight
i am here to say
don't pass up the sheer delight
to see one any day

    - first stanza Gelette Burgess composed diligently in 1895
_- Second stanza by yours truly.... composed on the spot today
(OK ok ok I WILL admit i have been meditating on this poem for days!!!)

  1. i remember my dad
    teaching us this poem
    when i was a kid
    (just the first stanza)

    somehow i'd always
    associated it
    with ogden nash

    it's raining hard here
    might turn to snow later
    last weekend's snow
is pretty much gone from our yard
    though still present around town
    on north-facing slopes.

    Whoops!
    there goes our garbage can
rolling down the street in the wind
    i'd better go rescue it!

  3. garbage can
    snow
anything but call attention to my
    ridiculously apropos response
to the way things are going

    now however i've been thinking
that the purple cow is more significant than
    i originally thought
it is inspiring all sorts of possibilitieis
    in my mind
    if you might well imagine

    hmmmmn.....

    purple cow

now what can i do with that image

    i know

    how about

blue monk monje azul riding a purple cow singing hank williams tunes
    in india

    something to think about anyway
    on a monday
always that perfect album cover in mind

    !
