THERE IS SOME KISS
There is some kiss we want
with our whole lives,
the touch of Spirit on the body.
Seawater begs the pearl
to break its shell.
And the lily, how passionately
it needs some wild Darling!
At night, I open the window
and ask the moon to come
and press its face against mine.
Breathe into me.
Close the language-door,
and open the love-window.
The moon won't use the door,
only the window.
Mevlana Jelaluddin Rumi
(( Indeed! ))
....
Rumi often leads me to ruminations on the nature of physiological existence within a world that is obviously comprised entirely of spirit.
ReplyDeletewe make room for rumi
ReplyDeletesomewhere i read that the word rumi
is the farci word for Roman
indicating that perhaps he was a roman catholic priest
who decided the persians do it better
we tend to like beautiful descriptions of erotic possibility
and that there is a place and a way for love to be
that is above the petty needy ways of society
that love exists above it all
to read rumi is to think
there is a way a time when love will be and all other commentaries will
fall by the wayside
but there's this sense in the SONG OF SONGS
which very likely is a poem inspired by a highly developed persian sense of poetry
i'm collecting poems like some people used to collect
baseball cards
poverty has never been so sweet
